The Association de la Grande Cariçaie includes owners whose land are within the nature reserves limits (cantons, municipalities, private owners) and conservation organisations with a management or a public information mandate to operate inside the nature reserves (Association suisse pour la protection des oiseaux ASPO/BirdLife Suisse, Nos Oiseaux, Pro Natura).
In early 2011 this new management structure has replaced the old organisation, Management Committee and the Study and Management Group (GEG for its acronym in French).
The Association de la Grande Cariçaie is overseen by a Steering Committee responsible for the strategic direction of the project, which includes representatives from the members of the Association (cantons, municipalities and organisations). The Steering Committee is advised when necessary by the Scientific sub-Committee (SCS for its acronym in French). The Steering Committee responds to the General Assembly, which also consists of representatives from the members of the Association.
The Association can rely for help for its different tasks on the Executive Office, which at present employs nine persons (7.1 full-time).
The Association has an annual budget of approximately CHF 1.5 million, with contributions from the cantons, subscription fees, and 80% from the federal government.
